I am Frida Why, the artistic name of Afroditi Gioti, a contemporary artist based in Greece.

My art is deeply influenced by post-traumatic experience. I create as a way to process what cannot always be said, turning emotional wounds into visual, layered portraits that speak of transformation and acceptance.

During a time of isolation, I began creating digital collages, layering photography with textures, fragments and feeling. What began as a personal survival process slowly became my visual language.

I’ve always been drawn to people, to their faces, their eyes, the quiet stories they carry. Women live at the center of my work. They hold both strength and softness, something I deeply relate to.

Today, my work blends digital art, photography, and hand-made elements. But I am an experimentalist, constantly searching for my truth through different mediums. Each piece becomes an emotional landscape, intimate/ raw, and open for others to recognize parts of themselves.

For me, art is a dialogue between what is seen and what is felt, between me and you.
